Privacy Policy

Project Twin is a private companion for two people in a relationship. One partner (the owner) creates an AI twin of themselves; the other partner talks to it. This policy explains what we collect, what it is used for, and the controls both of you hold. It is written to be read, not skimmed.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address, display name and timezone. Sign-in is by emailed code; we never hold a password.
• What you share with the twin: messages, voice notes and their transcripts, photos you attach, and answers to the setup interviews.
• What the twin learns: memories, facts, dates, preferences and summaries derived from your conversations, kept so the twin can remember what matters to your couple.
• Voice recordings: the owner’s recordings, made to build the twin’s voice.
• Technical basics: device push tokens and service logs needed to run and secure the service.

How it is used

Only to run Project Twin for your couple: generating the twin’s replies, tagging messages by urgency, building the owner’s digest and insight cards, sending check-ins, and speaking replies in the cloned voice. We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your conversations to train our own or anyone else’s general-purpose models.

AI processing

Generating replies and understanding voice requires specialist AI service providers. We use a small number of vetted providers, each under contractual terms that prohibit using your data to train their models: a language-model provider (processes message text, conversation context and twin memories to draft replies and summaries), a voice provider (builds the owner’s voice clone from their recordings and speaks the twin’s replies; may also transcribe voice notes), an email delivery provider (sign-in codes and digests), and cloud hosting providers (encrypted storage and compute). We deliberately do not publish an infrastructure map; the current list of providers is available on written request to [email protected], and material changes to it will be reflected in this policy.

Voice cloning and consent

A voice is only ever cloned from recordings the person makes themselves, including a spoken consent statement. The owner can revoke consent at any time in the app, which deletes the clone. Creating a clone of anyone who has not personally recorded and consented is prohibited and is grounds for immediate termination.

What your partner can and cannot see

• Conversations with the twin are tiered. General conversations appear on the owner’s dashboard; home and urgent matters are routed to the owner with context.
• Anything the partner marks private stays out of the owner’s dashboard, digest and insight cards.
• When the owner speaks through the twin, the message is marked as really from them. The twin also says so honestly if asked whether it is the twin.
• Either partner can pause the twin at any time.

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your couple’s account is active. Either partner may browse and delete individual memories at any time. A full deletion request starts a 7-day grace period, during which both partners are notified and the request can be cancelled; after it, messages, memories, insights, digests and voice data are deleted from live systems, with residual copies removed from backups on their normal cycle.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted to your own couple by design, and administrative access is limited and logged. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we treat the contents of a marriage as the most sensitive data there is.

International transfers

Our providers process data in more than one jurisdiction, including the United States and the European Union, under contractual safeguards. By using Project Twin you consent to these transfers.

Your rights

We honour the rights granted by the data protection law that applies to you, including the GDPR where it applies: access, correction, export, deletion and objection. Use the in-app tools or write to [email protected]; we respond within 30 days.

Age

Project Twin is for adults (18+). Family life naturally appears in your conversations; such references are treated as part of your couple’s private content and are never used for any other purpose.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, both partners are notified in the app before the change takes effect.
